Peer Delivered Services: Who are Peer Specialists?

45 Minute Lecture with Question and Answer Session | Presented by Joshua Parkin, Peer Specialist

Peer Support Specialists are an increasingly useful service provider in the delivery of Mental Health Services in any hospital, clinic, or direct service environment. This lecture takes an inside look of the how Peer Specialists are an important part of a program participant's Recovery from Mental Health Concerns and Substance Misuse; the history of the Ex-Patient/Survivor/Consumer Movements; New York State's and other national Peer Specialist credentialing processes; modality of service; and explores what a person-centered form of service delivery looks like.


This lecture is presented by Joshua Parkin a Peer Specialist that has lived experience with Mental Health Concerns and Substance Misuse. The lecture is approximately 45 minutes with an included 15 minutes of Question and Answer. The lecture is customizable to the client's needs.
